The scrap steel feedstock is prepared from all sorts of scrap steel. Feedstock is prepared according to the specifications of individual customers, i. e. ironworks and steelworks, depending on their requirements or limitations on the content of alloying elements – admixtures (copper, aluminium, silicon etc.).
Cast iron feedstock is made of unalloyed scrap cast iron, thick at least 3mm, and cut to the size required by the foundry. It is usually a single mode industry scrap, mainly the sheet metal clippings, scrap ship plate etc.
Treatment of mixed municipal waste is carried out at our Maribor business unit. The waste is brought to the hopper where heavy and light fractions are separated on the sieve. Heavy fractions are further processed by our business partners. Light fraction is manually sorted by picking out all materials that are suitable for material processing (plastics, glass, wood, metals). The remainder of light fractions that is not suitable for material processing, is used for W-t-E production.
In the material recovery hall, the mixed packaging is loaded into the hopper, and fed to the sorting belt for automated tearing of sacks. The process is followed by manual screening on two parallel belts.
Bulky and other similar waste is accepted on the sorting plateau for mixed non-metal waste. Depending on the kind and material of waste, the person in charge decides on the treatment procedure right after acceptance.
